But, like any other software, it also have some technical glitches. Recently, I started facing Discord JavaScript error on my Windows 11 while I was streaming Call of Duty Warzone. However, due to this problem, the Discord app stops working that make me furious. But, then I’ve tried few fixes that helped me resolving this problem and guess what? All those fixes I’ve mentioned here.

What is the Discord Fatal Javascript Error?

The Discord Fatal JavaScript error only occurs when a JavaScript code execution fails that further prevent Discord from working properly on Windows 11 PC. Moreover, there are high risk that due to this problem, the Discord app may crash or sometime freezes.  So, it is very important to troubleshoot this problem as it may create a hinderance and make your gaming experience poor.

If you are unaware of why you are getting the Discord Javascript error on your Windows PC, then you might be facing this problem because of the following reasons:

So, here are some troubleshooting steps that I’ve personally applied to resolve the Discord JavaScript error in Windows 11:

Fix 1: Run Discord As Administrator

The fatal Discord JavaScript error may occur due to permission issues. So, I recommend you run the Discord app using admin rights using the steps mentioned below:

  1. Right-click the Discord icon and select Properties.
  2. You will see a dialog box. Choose Compatibility and then hit Run this program as an administrator. Click Apply and OK.

So, now, launch the Discord app again and check if it is showing the JavaScript error or not. 

Fix 2: Delete Discord’s AppData Files

Possibilities are high that you may face the Discord JavaScript error may be caused by a corrupted AppData file. That means, you can easily resolve this problem if you remove the faulty files and replace them with original app files using the app installer. So, to do this:

  1. To do so, press Windows+R to open the Run dialog box. Enter %appdata% in the box and press Enter.
  2. Use the Ctrl+A key combination to select all files in the Discord folder. You can delete a file by right-clicking it and choosing Delete (a trash can icon).
  3. Press Windows+R again, type %localappdata%, and hit Enter.

That’s it. Now, you can install a fresh copy of the files that you have trashed on your Windows 11 PC. You can do so go to the Discord website and download the installer. Then, simply run it. 

Fix 3: Update Discord

Did you check if the Discord app on your device is running on the latest version? If not, then you have to make sure that you have updated your Discord app on Windows 11 PC using these steps:

  1. To access User Settings, open Discord and click on the gear icon (Settings) at the bottom left corner.
  2. Go to the Appearance tab under the User Settings menu.
  3. To search for available updates, scroll down and click the Check for Updates button.
  4. You can download and install updates by following the on-screen instructions.
  5. When the update is complete, restart Discord and see if the JavaScript errors still persist.

Fix 4: Use The Command Prompt

Yes, you read it right! Using the command prompt, you can easily resolve a variety of errors that occur on your Windows PC. However, Discord JavaScript error is one of them. So, let’s check out the needy steps to do this:

  1. Search for CMD in the Windows 10/11 search box.
  2. Afterwards, right-click on the CMD from the result and select Run as Administrator.
  3. The next step is to type gpupdate /force and press enter to execute it.

  5. Your command prompt will display confirmation once the process is complete.

Fix 5: Change Windows Audio Video Experience Service Parameters

Chances are high that compatibility issues with video or audio may be the reason why the Discord fatal JavaScript error occurs. Thus, you can try changing the Windows audio and video experience settings to fix this problem. However, to do this:

  1. Enter Services.msc in the Run box (Win+R).
  2. In this window, you can see all Windows processes, both active and inactive.
  3. Right-click on Quality Windows Audio Video Experience to get more options.
  4. To access the parameters, click on the Properties option.
  5. It will now show as Running.
  6. To terminate the process, tap Stop.
  7. You can now change the startup type to Automatic.

  8. To save the settings, click Apply, and to exit the properties window, click OK.
  9. Try to launch Discord again after rebooting your computer.

Fix 6: Clear Discord Cache

Discord JavaScript error on Windows 11 PC can be resolved by clearing the cache in Discord. To do it, follow these steps:

  1. Firstly, right-click the Discord icon in the system tray and choose Quit Discord.
  2. Afterward, open the Run dialog box by pressing the Windows key + R, then type %appdata% without quotes.
  3. Locate the discord folder in the AppData/Roaming folder.
  4. Delete the folders Cache, Cache2, and GPUCache inside of Discord.
  5. Check to see if the JavaScript errors have been resolved by restarting Discord.

Fix 7: Perform a Clean Install of Discord

If none of the methods worked for you, you must try uninstalling the Discord app on your Windows 11 to fix the JavaScript error. So, you must reinstall the Discord app on your device using the steps mentioned below:

  1. Using the Search button in the taskbar, launch Control Panel on your PC.
  2. Afterwards, choose Uninstall a program from the Programs category.
  3. In the programs list, right-click Discord and select Uninstall.Perform a Clean Install of Discord
  4. Once Discord has been uninstalled, launch the Run command dialog box. In order to find Windows Search, right-click on its icon and select Run in the menu that appears.
  5. Then, type %appdata% and click OK.
  6. Delete the discord folder.
  7. Launch Windows Run again. Simply type %localappdata% and click OK.
  8. Delete the Discord folder.
  9. Finally, you must restart your computer and reinstall Discord.

Fix 8: Disable Antivirus

Discord JavaScript error on Windows 11 can be caused by some antivirus and security software incorrectly flagging Discord as a threat. You can determine if the problem is caused by your antivirus software by temporarily disabling it.
